Rochell Hatfield

I started my path towards design at Green River College as a running start student majoring in English Literature and Creative Writing. While I loved to read, learn, and explore the narratives of others, I quickly found my own creative outlet in visual mediums. After a brief dabble in Business and Marketing, I recognized web design, advertising, and UX could act as a perfect blend of my interests; exploring the narratives of others - helping tell the story they sought to convey - through the design and presentation of their 'stories'.

At Eastern Washington University I realized what my future was all about. I received my Bachelor Degree for Visual Communications in Design and an undergraduate certificate in User Experience/ User Interface. In my school work, I've been most recognized for my passion to develop systems and processes, and for my willingness to embrace, create, and implement new ideas and concepts. Since graduating in 2020, I have stayed up to date on current and past trends. What makes me captivating is my novel insights and implementations! On a regular basis I build patterns, components, standards, and tools to improve in all things:

Designing while also coding this website has allowed me to consider how the pieces within a system interact and influence one another. Not only designing and coding, but also integrating how search engines communicate and decipher these elements. I think knowing the whole system from beginning to end is key to a successful user experience.

I have gained three years of experience in the field of User Experience, Web Design, and Graphic Design. I have a creative mindset and a passion for learning! I've been working on such diverse projects as being a lead project designer for a biotech start-up, generating advertisements for clubs on campus, designing illustrations and digital graphics for a Youtube channel, and designing and producing a beer package. I've also worked a year with a small sign shop where I worked with clients to design, develop, and produce marketing and advertising collateral. These roles have helped establish my career path as a designer, building skills in graphic design, color theory, composition, typography, and many other design patterns. I can easily create a creative brief and accurately deliver it to the client. I love to craft inspiring visual story-telling that compels clients to come back for more. I can see that my creative vision and unique professional skills result in great products.
